Community Service Diploma Endorsement

A Community Service Diploma Endorsement is a diploma endorsement that Louisiana high school students may earn upon graduation. Local education agencies (LEAs) may award a Community Service Diploma Endorsement to students completing a minimum of 80 documented community service hours by graduation. Authorized by Act 295 of the 2012 Regular Session of the Legislature, this voluntary diploma endorsement was established to:

  •  Engage students in their communities;
  •  Provide a process to apply what they have learned in a social setting; and
  •  Provide opportunities for students to explore their interests, passions, and potential career aspirations in an engaged, hands-on environment.

What are the requirements?

  • Complete at least 80 hours of community service hours by graduation.
  • Document community service hours by either logging them into the Helper Helper App or by using the Community Service Diploma Endorsement Tracking Form. You can also pick up a tracking form from the counselors office.
  • Turn in the tracking form to your counselor or Mrs. Watson by the end of each semester, December 1 and May 1.

What types of community service will qualify for the endorsement?
